Drag Me Up
drag - the performance of forms of gender expression
A drag transformation that highlights the euphoric rush of finding oneself during a time of isolation.
It’s an experimental visual performance, using household objects to create lighting effects that should inspire audiences to explore how they can create art from everyday items, alongside promoting freedom of self-expression.
A 60-second experimental film of Drag Me Up appeared as part of the Severn Arts It Get's Lighter From Here Campaign in 2020.
The piece is lit by torchlight and incorporates gels, glitter, fairy lights and shadow puppetry, as the audience follows the journey of ‘woman’ to ‘man’.
It is currently being developed into a full-scale show.
